About Me
Dr. Lloyd Chiasson Jr. is a Distinguished Professor at Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, Louisiana. He has written two novels, and also wrote and edited five academic texts. Along with The Ranatanland Tales, his other novel was Stutterstep, published in 2004. His academic work includes Illusive Shadows: Press Coverage of Socially Significant Trials (2003), Three Centuries of American Media (1999), The Press on Trial (1997), The Press in Crisis (1995), Reporter’s Notebook (1993). His other academic works include more than 100 published articles.
Dr. Chiasson is also a two-time Fulbright Scholar who taught in Riga, Latvia (1999) and Semarang, Indonesia (2008). He has 20 years professional experience as a newspaper journalist and has worked in Vermont and in Louisiana for various newspapers as a sports writer, news writer, and columnist.
Dr. Chiasson has taught at six universities: the University of Southern Mississippi (Hattiesburg, Mississippi), Loyola University (New Orleans), the University of Southwestern Louisiana (Lafayette), and Nicholls State University (Thibodaux), the University of Latvia and Diponegoro University
Dr. Chiasson is married to Mary Shannon Curley and they have two daughters, Marnie Elizabeth and Cassidy Loehn, each, in her own way, greatly contributed to the The Ranatanland Tales.
Dr. Chiasson presently lives in Thibodaux, Louisiana.
